I am a lawyer in Joliet, Illinois, but not the practice of bankruptcy law, and found it in the investigation of a series of questions from a friend that I was on the website below to help some of the issues of bankruptcy, see below:
YES http://www.ilnb.uscourts.gov/ and 180 days before the filing of an initial bankruptcy had to be logged in to leave a meeting or an authorized agency a credit counselor. From their site you can search the PDF file that says: "Caution About Credit Counseling" Good Luck! John M. Kogut

I worked for a bankruptcy lawyer has in Illinois. I do not know if I can remember, but I'm sure the answer is yes. You need to go through credit counseling before filing bankruptcy. I think it is something done by phone in less than an hour, but it was a cost. I do not know how. I have had the credit counseling call and offer telephone appointments for our clients.
